This past weekend I was blessed enough to spend quality and magical time with my family at a beautiful nature reserve in South Africa, called Sondela! Over the long weekend, I found myself looking back in L.O.V.E! with the old memories I made with my family when I was younger and how those memories live on forever and how precious they are, but how integral the new memories are too - each one molding me into a better and more happier person! Life has thrown me many hard, traumatic and painful memories and although those are in the past - memories still come up...the new memories have been magical, awe-inspiring and rewarding! So in my Life's Journey this past weekend, I have been blessed to have learnt the following... 1) Food always tastes better when you are surrounded with the people you L.O.V.E! and cherish...this includes family, friends and those special angels always around you in spirit. |
We had 2 really fabulous meals...Friday we were at Tom Yum in Sea Point, which is a stunning Thai restaurant. The food is outstanding and the service very friendly and personal - its a must...they are currently closed for the next month or so during renovations (we were lucky enough to be there on their last night before they closed) - if you are in town in the near future...give it a try - particularly their Prawn Wonton Soup! Of course there are wine farms to visit and all the famous sites and sounds - these are great if you are in the city for a longer period of time as these places require a lot of time to get to, as well as to explore - but do not fear, as Kevin is here to give you the top 5 places to go to that are all within walking distance or maximum of 10min from the city of Cape Town :
1) Truth - this is a coffee bar that sells incredible coffee, craft beer and the most delicious grilled cheese you will ever have in your life!
2) The Waterfront - full of incredible restaurants, shops and also daily trips you can take (weather permitting) to the famous Robben Island.
3) Hout Bay - this is a drive, but you will be very happy you took it - you can go to the weekend market, have fish and chips whilst sitting on the rocks or spoil yourself at the famous restaurant, Mariner's Wharf
4) Another funky coffee restaurant for a yummy brunch on a Sunday is Bootleggers Coffee Shop in Sea Point.
5) The best and final place is...simply to walk along the edge of the sea, walk on the beach...collect sea shells and watch the sun go down - best of all this is my number 1 place and once you are in Cape Town its 100% free!
Talking about coffee...the sea was really rough on Sunday - so much so that even the sea decided to make us a Cappuccino...very salty one at that - the joys and fun of Mother Nature, The Chef!
I hope I have inspired, wetted your appetite and made you linger to adventure - life is worth living and this very special city makes you appreciate and realize this as soon as you enter its cooking pot of possibilities!
